A townhome is not a condo with a different photo

On this coast the word condo covers oceanfront towers, mid-rise buildings, and sometimes garden-style stacks. A townhome is usually side-by-side or a small group of homes with a private entrance. You may still be in an association. You are usually not sharing an elevator, a master hallway, and a rental desk. The monthly number still includes dues. The insurance file is often different from a unit in a tower. We read both before we let the floor plan decide.

Buyers mix the two because the portals do. That is how someone falls for a rooftop in Market Common and then compares it with a fifteenth-floor balcony as if they were peers. They are not. Use Myrtle Beach condos for sale for the towers and mid-rises. Stay here for the attached house.

Detached houses buy a yard and lose the lock-and-leave simplicity. If you are between those lives, tour one townhome and one house, not five of each. The third showing should be the one you are ready to underwrite.

Where Myrtle Beach townhomes cluster

Market Common is the name most walk-to-dinner buyers already have. Townhomes there sit in a real neighborhood of restaurants, parks, and a weekly market, back from the boardwalk. Garages matter. So do the rental rules and what you may put on a terrace. Walk the district on a market day and on an ordinary evening.

Other townhome pockets sit west of Kings Highway and in communities that are Myrtle Beach by address and suburban by feel. Some are newer. Some are older attached plans near golf or a pool that is the amenity, not the Atlantic. Ask what the HOA actually maintains: roof, landscaping, the pool, the street. “Low maintenance” is a sentence that needs a noun.

If the attached home you want is in Carolina Forest, North Myrtle Beach, or a south-end plantation, say the town. This page is the Myrtle Beach filter. We will open the other city rather than pretend one townhome search covers the Strand.

Dues, rental rules, and the garage

Dues on a townhome can look modest next to an oceanfront tower and still be the line item that makes the payment honest. Add insurance, any flood requirement for that address, and a vacancy assumption if you plan to rent. We do not invent a return. We will tell you when the covenants ban the rental plan in the listing remarks.

The garage is not a bonus photo. It is where bikes, beach chairs, and the second car go in August. A one-car garage and a rooftop is a different life from a two-car garage and a patio. Count the cars you actually own.

End units, top floors in a three-story plan, and first-floor primaries change who the house fits. We will not assign a household type to a floor plan. Tell us about stairs, guests, and whether you want a yard the size of a patio or no yard at all.

Shop townhomes with a broker who will narrow them

The listings on this page are Myrtle Beach homes typed as townhouses. Names vary in the feed. If a home is attached and mislabeled, tell us and we will pull it by hand. If the page is thin, Market Common’s own search is the next click, then the citywide Myrtle Beach real estate net.

Pair this with Grande Dunes only if a gate and golf are in the brief. Pair it with oceanfront condos only if you are truly undecided between sand and a walkable neighborhood. Otherwise pick one and go deep.

Call Sherman Beach Group at (717) 778-1554. Sellers of townhomes should request a home estimate that comps attached homes in the same community, not a detached house three miles inland.

Questions about Myrtle Beach Townhomes for Sale

What is a Myrtle Beach townhome?

Usually an attached home with its own entrance, often a garage, and an HOA. It is not the same product as an oceanfront high-rise condo.

Are Market Common homes townhomes?

Many of the homes buyers mean in Market Common are townhomes. Confirm the specific floor plan and the association rules.

Do townhome HOAs allow short-term rentals?

Some do and some do not. The covenants decide. We read them before you write.

Townhome or condo?

Choose a townhome for a private entry and a garage. Choose a condo tower for elevators, amenities, and the oceanfront building conversation. Tour one of each if you are unsure.
